Reclaiming autonomy through the stewardship of land and Indigenous heirloom seeds.

Growing Indigenous Ancestral Heirloom Seeds

At the foundation of our work are our ancestral seeds. Seed stories are fundamental to the survival of our culture, they connect generations of wisdom from time immemorial. We learn from our seeds and they inform our community relationships. Traditional foodways, in our culture, are the center of our community and provide us with all we need to survive. This is what the “Conuco'' represents in Taíno cosmology.

We steward a handful of small growing plots where we grow out Indigenous Ancestral Heirloom Seeds and tend to a growing Seed Library.

Seed Saving Lab

A designated space in downtown Ithaca, NY where we grow out rare varieties of Indigenous heirloom seeds that have not yet been adapted to our climate. This is a location where we host workshops on pollination and seed saving techniques.

We ask that community members do not harvest or otherwise disturb these raised garden beds but encourage people to visit and observe throughout the growing season.

Press Bay Court : Community U-Pick Gardens

The Traditional Center for Indigenous Knowledge and Healing stewards three Community U-Pick raised garden beds in downtown Ithaca, NY. All community members are welcome to take as they need from a selection of local and organic vegetables, culinary and medicinal herbs, as well as flowers.
